CLIENT: Towergate Insurance Group – The UK’s fastest growing insurance company
BRIEF: Installation of a six-hundred and seventy outlet structured cabling network with fibre optic triangulation and voice links, power and server room

In early 2006, with almost 100 offices opened since it’s founding in 1997, Towergate Partnership, the largest and fastest growing independent insurance organisation in the UK, was now looking to open a major operations centre in Colchester. The Octagon; a large office redevelopment in the heart of the town; was chosen as the location for these new offices.
The reputation of Octopus Cabling Ltd was already well established within the building, having completed successful installations totalling approximately 1000 outlets, for five of the existing tenants and they were recommended to Towergate Partnership for their quality of work and site knowledge.

Having tendered for and secured the contract, a structured data/voice installation of some 300 CAT5e outlets, including wireless access and server and communications cabinets was designed and rapidly implemented.
Soon after Octopus Cabling had completed the certification and documentation of this installation, Towergate Partnership leased the office suite one floor above, and their aggressive expansion continued.

Octopus Cabling responded to the challenge with the design and delivery of a further 240 outlet network, again with wireless access and communications and server cabinets. The two networks were subsequently linked with fibre and voice backbones. This had to be completed to a very tight deadline to accommodate a recently completed acquisition.

The Towergate Partnership have continued their dynamic expansion with the lease of a further office suite within the Colchester building, resulting in their occupation of the entire third floor, giving them nearly 30,000 square feet of office space.

Once again, Octopus Cabling were called upon to implement a further 130 outlet network with associated communications cabinets. The networks of all three suites were subsequently linked with a fibre optic backbone, which was triangulated to improve resilience.
